February 2021 saw Christie as Director/Choreographer and Co-Producer for the critically acclaimed world premiere of The City which played in The Utzon Room, Sydney Opera House. 

In NYC, Christie Koppe was Assistant Director for Into The Woods: In Concert, at New York City Town Hall which featured an all Broadway-star cast including Alice Ripley, Tony Yazbeck, Kate Shindle and Betsy Wolfe. Following this she was Program Director for Werk With BWay’s summer intensives: Be More Chill, Wicked and Les Misérables which oversaw Masterclasses from Broadway stars George Salazar, Joel Waggoner, Tiffany Mann, Gina Claire Mason, Caroline Bowman, Derek Klena, Alice Ripley and Tam Mutu. 


In Australia, Christie was Directorial Intern on Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, under the direction of 3-time Tony® Award-winner Jack O’Brien. She was both Director and Designer for Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire with Exit Game Productions. Christie also sat in on rehearsals for The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race (premiere), a new Australian comedy at Ensemble Theatre. She was then Assistant Director for the new Australian musical, The Red Tree, which opened at The Sydney Opera House and continued at Arts Centre Melbourne, written by award-winning Playwright Hilary Bell and ARIA award-winning Composer Greta Gertler-Gold based on the award-winning book by Shaun Tan, produced by National Theatre of Parramatta. 

Previously, Christie was Program Associate for Making It On Broadway in New York City and has sat on the final panel for Making It On Broadway in both Sydney and New York City. She was Director Observer for the new Broadway-aimed musical Chasing Rainbows: The Road to Oz , Goodspeed Musicals, USA. 

Her previous productions include Six Characters in Search of an AuthorThe PursuitCoffee Art (premiere)Better Versions of Ourselves (premiere) and City of Angels. In one theatre she has assisted on The Matilda Waltz (premiere) and The Diary of Anne Frank, then returning to direct the staged reading of The Chapel Perilous.

 

Christie wrote and directed a cabaret; Show Off!? A History of Broadway Explained (premiere) and has choreographed over 60 performers in Hot Mikado. 

Her production of Company, by Sondheim, was named Best Fringe Production (Musical) 2014, by Sydney Arts Guide. 

Other productions include The Tale of Ichabod Scrubb (premiere) and 42nd Street as well as the snapshot of The Longest Journey for New Musicals Australia at Hayes Theatre Co. Stones In His Pockets, for which she was AD, toured nationally.  

Christie has completed A Practical Approach to Directing through Yale University, USA, has a Master of Teaching (Drama & Languages [Spanish and Italian Studies]) and Bachelor of Arts in Performance Studies from The University of Sydney and has completed the Director’s and Writer’s Studio: Live Performance, NIDA.
